The island is my source of inspiration

From the rhythm of the sea and the endless beach to the iconic lighthouse, the characteristic church of Den Hoorn, the open spaces, and the magical, unique light. Every little piece of Texel can form the foundation for my paintings.

In my studio in Den Burg, I translate these pure elements of the island onto canvas.

As an artist, I deliberately choose my own path

For me, the art academy was not a logical step, but a risk. I did not want to learn to paint according to the rules, guidelines, or trends of others. My biggest fear was that an education would shape my creative intuition in a way that it would no longer belong to me. I wanted to discover, fail, experiment, and above all, develop a style that is 100% authentic.

A unique, uninfluenced style

Without the voices of professors in my head, I developed a visual language that comes purely from within myself. My style is not learned; it emerged organically. Every brushstroke is the result of pure curiosity and an unstoppable urge to create.

Freedom without rules

Where an academy often dictates what is “good” or “bad” art, I do not know these boundaries. This limitlessness can be seen directly on the canvas.

This is also reflected in the signatures: Angelina, Angelina Stiehl, Angelina van der Vliet, and even a single A.Stiehl can be found as signatures on my works.

The ultimate proof

Today, I can say with pride and passion that my work is recognizable as an “Angelina Stiehl”. It possesses its own soul and touches people.

My studio is my academy. My intuition is my mentor. When you look at my art, you do not see the product of a school system, but a pure, unconventional, and successful story.
